MUST VISIT: Best Diving & Snorkeling Spots Around Canggu!

Aren’t you excited to dive into the best diving and snorkeling spots in Bali? Unfortunately, though Canggu has lots of fun activities and entertainment to offer, it’s not a quite possible place for us to do some diving and snorkeling around. Worry not, because the beautiful ocean view of the lagoons and small islands nearby will be there to have you in awe! Grab your fins, mask, and sunscreen, because we’re about to explore some of the most stunning underwater worlds on this majestic island.

1. Blue Lagoon, Padangbai

First up, we have the Blue Lagoon, located in Padangbai, about an hour and a half from Canggu. Don’t let the distance deter you, though, because this spot is well worth the drive. The Blue Lagoon is a shallow dive site, perfect for beginners or anyone looking to take a relaxing snorkeling excursion. You’ll be amazed by the crystal-clear water, colorful coral, and schools of tropical fish. Make sure to bring your underwater camera because you won’t want to miss capturing these moments.

2. USAT Liberty Shipwreck, Tulamben

Yes, you read that right, a shipwreck! This World War II-era cargo ship was torpedoed by the Japanese in 1942 and has since become a popular dive site. The wreck is located only 30 meters from the shore, making it accessible to divers and snorkelers alike. Once underwater, you’ll be greeted by an abundance of marine life, including bump-head parrotfish, barracuda, and sea turtles. The wreck itself is covered in colorful coral, making it a sight to behold. Make sure to bring a flashlight if you plan on diving to explore the interior of the ship. Check out their Instagram page @libertyshipwrecktulamben to see more of this fascinating spot.

3. Nusa Penida

Third on the list is Nusa Penida Island, located about an hour’s boat ride from Bali. Nusa Penida is home to a variety of dive sites, including Manta Point, where you can swim with giant manta rays, and Crystal Bay, where you can spot the rare Mola Mola (also known as the sunfish). The water surrounding Nusa Penida is some of the clearest you’ll ever see, giving you a spectacular view of the vibrant coral and marine life. The island is home to a variety of fish species, including the popular Napoleon wrasse and parrotfish. You may even be lucky enough to spot a blacktip reef shark or a sea turtle. Make sure to follow the rules set by the dive sites, such as not touching or removing any marine life, and never leaving any trash behind. Let’s leave these underwater worlds better than we found them.
